Overview

**Lactobacillus rhamnosus + Lactobacillus plantarum** is a combination of two probiotic strains commonly administered orally as a dietary supplement or therapeutic adjunct. Both species are lactic acid bacteria naturally present in the human gut and mucosal surfaces. This combination is intended to support gut flora integrity, enhance colonization of beneficial bacteria, and modulate host immune responses. Mechanistically, they act by competitive exclusion of pathogens, restoration of microbial balance after antibiotic use, potential modulation of mucosal immunity, and production of metabolites (e.g., lactic acid) that lower gut pH, inhibiting harmful microbes. Clinical studies have evaluated this combination for prevention of urinary tract infections, support of infant intestinal colonization, reduction in antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and potential benefits in oral health and prevention of periodontal disease[1][3][4].
