Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus rhamnosus 19070-2 + Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 12246 is a probiotic combination developed by DSM (now DSM-Firmenich) and marketed under the brand name FloraActive™. The product consists of two specific live bacterial strains that colonize the gastrointestinal tract, where they exert antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria and stabilize the intestinal mucosal barrier. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing the duration of acute diarrhea in children, decreasing crying and fussing time in infants with colic, and alleviating gastrointestinal symptoms and skin severity in children with atopic dermatitis. The combination has received FDA New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) no-objection status and is commercially available globally as a dietary supplement.
