Lactobacillus rhamnosus 86 is a specific probiotic strain of lactic acid bacteria investigated for its potential anti-obesity and metabolic health benefits. Research indicates that the strain can reduce cholesterol levels and inhibit the differentiation of preadipocytes into mature adipocytes, thereby suppressing fat accumulation. This effect is primarily mediated through the downregulation of key adipogenic and lipogenic transcription factors, including PPARγ, C/EBPα, and SREBP-1c. In vivo studies using high-fat diet-induced obese mouse models have shown that daily oral administration of L. rhamnosus 86 improves serum lipid profiles, reduces the expression of genes related to fat synthesis in white adipose tissue, and helps normalize obesity-related gut microbiota dysbiosis.
