Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus bv-77 is a specific strain of probiotic bacteria isolated from healthy human breast milk. [2] It is being investigated for its potential health benefits, including the regulation of fat metabolism, gut health, and antioxidant properties. [2] As a live biotherapeutic product, it functions by modulating the gut microbiota. A clinical trial (NCT07400367) is evaluating L. rhamnosus bv-77 as part of a four-strain probiotic combination product for the treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). [3] The proposed mechanism involves improving the gut-liver axis to reduce hepatic inflammation and abnormal lipid metabolism. [3] Preclinical studies in rats have shown that L. rhamnosus bv-77, alone and in combination with other probiotics, can alleviate body fat formation and reduce plasma cholesterol levels. [4] The strain is provided by Glac Biotech Co., Ltd. [4]
