Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus CCFM0528 is a specific probiotic bacterial strain of the species Lactobacillus rhamnosus, preserved under CGMCC No.7317 in the China Microorganism Culture Collection Center. This strain has demonstrated functional properties relevant to metabolic health, particularly in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes. Experimental studies show that both its fermentation supernatant and cytoplasm inhibit \u03b1-glucosidase activity (29.2% and 14.1% inhibition rates, respectively), an enzyme critical for carbohydrate digestion and glucose absorption[1]. Additionally, it inhibits glucose transport by affecting gene expression levels of SGLT-1 and GLUT-2 proteins involved in intestinal glucose uptake[1]. In animal models, administration of this strain reduced fasting blood sugar, postprandial blood sugar, improved glucose tolerance, and may modulate gut microbiota composition[1][4]. The mechanism is thought to involve direct enzymatic inhibition as well as modulation of host gene expression related to carbohydrate metabolism.
