Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus cell lysate is a preparation of non-living, broken-down cells of the probiotic bacterium *Lactobacillus rhamnosus*. Classified as a postbiotic or immunobiotic, it contains various cellular components like cell wall fragments, peptides, and polysaccharides. [1, 3] These components interact with the host's immune system to modulate its response. It is used as a supplement and in cosmetic products. Clinical observations have shown that oral supplementation with the lysate can lead to significant improvement in skin symptoms and quality of life for children with atopic eczema, with no observed adverse reactions. [2, 7] Research also suggests it can enhance skin barrier function by increasing the expression of tight junction proteins and promoting skin cell migration and differentiation. [8, 11, 13]
