Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus Heriz I is a specific strain of the Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus bacterium, which is a type of probiotic. This particular strain was isolated from traditional yogurt in the Heriz region of Iran and has been registered in the NCBI GeneBank. It has been studied for its potential immunomodulatory effects, particularly as a supplementary treatment for patients undergoing chemotherapy. In a clinical trial involving women with breast cancer, *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* Heriz I was administered in combination with Beta Glucan. The study found that this combination may be useful as an immunomodulatory supplement, observing a decrease in serum levels of IL-4 and a non-significant increase in IL-12, suggesting a shift in the immune response. The trial also reported improvements in functional quality of life scores for patients receiving the supplement combination compared to placebo. It is administered orally in capsule form.
