Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus inm28-LR (also known as LR-inm28) is a specific probiotic strain isolated from the feces of a healthy centenarian in a longevity area in China. [11, 12] It has been systematically evaluated for its safety and probiotic potential. [11, 12] Research indicates that this strain exhibits strong adhesion to intestinal epithelial cells, tolerance to gastrointestinal conditions, and antimicrobial activity against pathogens. [12] Furthermore, it has demonstrated antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties. [12] Clinical and preclinical studies are exploring its effects on functional constipation in the elderly and its potential to improve learning and memory impairment in aging models by modulating gut microbiota and metabolites. [4, 5, 6, 7] The strain was developed by a team at the Key Laboratory of Dairy Biotechnology and Engineering, Ministry of Education, at Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. [15, 17, 18]
