Overview

Lactobacillus rhamnosus LPR is a specific probiotic bacterial strain, identified as CGMCC 1.3724, which was developed and extensively researched by Nestlé. It is primarily utilized in infant nutrition and dietary supplements aimed at immune modulation and skin health. Clinical evidence supports its use in reducing the risk and severity of atopic dermatitis in infants when administered to mothers during pregnancy and to infants postnatally. Additionally, it has been investigated for its potential benefits in weight management, where it may influence satiety and metabolic health in adults. The mechanism of action involves the stabilization of the intestinal barrier and the modulation of systemic immune responses, particularly by promoting a balanced Th1/Th2 profile and inducing regulatory T cells to foster immune tolerance.
