**Lactobacillus rhamnosus postbiotic** refers to soluble factors (metabolites, proteins, secreted molecules) produced by the fermentation or breakdown of *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* (often strain GG) after the bacterial cells are removed or inactivated. Unlike probiotics (live bacteria), postbiotics contain no viable organisms but can exert health benefits via immune modulation, anti-inflammatory effects, maintenance of epithelial integrity, and protection of the intestinal barrier. Mechanistically, these effects are primarily attributed to secreted proteins (such as p40, p75, HM0539 hydrolase), metabolites, and cell wall components, which reduce pro-inflammatory signaling (notably NF-κB and mTOR), promote epithelial survival, and enhance anti-inflammatory cytokine production (e.g., IL-10)[2][3][5]. Studied mostly in gastrointestinal and inflammatory conditions, postbiotics may offer safer alternatives to live bacteria, especially in immune-compromised patients.
