Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GCWB108 is a probiotic strain of *Lactobacillus salivarius* (specifically *Lactobacillus salivarius* BP121) being developed by GC Green Cross Wellbeing for kidney health. It is designed to improve kidney function, reduce inflammation of kidney tissue, and decrease the production of uremic toxins such as indoxyl sulfate (IS) and p-cresol sulfate (PCS) in the blood. Preclinical studies have shown that GCWB108 can protect against cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) by stabilizing intestinal barrier function, reducing intestinal permeability, and modulating the gut environment.
