Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacinase (also known as Lactasin) is an oral probiotic preparation containing live Enterococcus faecalis (formerly Streptococcus faecalis) or Enterococcus faecium. Developed and manufactured by Guilin Pharmaceutical, it is widely used as an over-the-counter (OTC) digestive aid in China. Upon oral administration, the live bacteria colonize the intestinal tract and ferment sugars to produce lactic acid. This increases intestinal acidity, which in turn inhibits the proliferation of pathogenic and spoilage bacteria, prevents abnormal fermentation, and reduces intestinal gas. Lactobacinase is primarily indicated for the treatment of dyspepsia (indigestion), abdominal distension (bloating), and diarrhea or green stools caused by dietary dysfunction, particularly in pediatric patients.
