Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactococcus lactis-based synbiotic is a proprietary therapeutic synbiotic formulation consisting of specific *Lactococcus lactis* strains and synergistic microbial metabolites. Developed by researchers at the University of Hong Kong, the bacterial strains were isolated from the feces of healthy human donors and recipient mice in a human microbiota-associated model. The synbiotic is designed to target metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). In preclinical studies, oral administration of the synbiotic demonstrated significant preventive efficacy by restoring gut barrier integrity, reducing body weight gain, lowering serum transaminases (ALT and AST), and decreasing hepatic cholesterol and triglycerides.
