Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination product containing the probiotic strains **Lactoplantibacillus plantarum CECT7527, CECT7528, CECT7529** and **monacolin K**. The probiotic strains are Gram-positive, non-pathogenic bacteria originally isolated from healthy infants and are recognized for their ability to reduce cholesterol in vitro and in human clinical trials. This effect is attributed to high bile salt hydrolase activity, which increases bile acid excretion and cholesterol assimilation, contributing to lower blood LDL and total cholesterol levels. **Monacolin K** is the principal bioactive from red yeast rice, chemically identical to lovastatin, and acts as an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor to reduce cholesterol synthesis in the liver. The combination is mainly indicated for hypercholesterolemia, especially in individuals intolerant to statins, and has demonstrated safety and tolerability in clinical use[1][5][6][7].
