Overview

**Lactoplantibacillus plantarum CECT7529** is a specific probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated and developed as a candidate for cholesterol-lowering interventions. It is part of a group of three closely related strains (CECT7527, CECT7528, CECT7529) often used in combination. This strain survives GI tract conditions, adheres to intestinal cells, exhibits high bile salt hydrolase activity (contributing to cholesterol deconjugation and removal), directly binds and assimilates cholesterol, and produces short-chain fatty acids such as propionic and butyric acids. CECT7529 in particular shows a high degree of these probiotic functionalities and has been studied alone and in combination for reduction of blood lipid levels, particularly LDL cholesterol. Clinical studies show good tolerability and significant cholesterol-lowering effects when combined with other CECT strains and/or monacolin K. The strain is developed and patented by AB-BIOTICS and marketed as part of AB-Life products, with capsule manufacturing by contract manufacturers such as Laboratorios Salvat.
