Overview

Lactovaginal is a vaginal probiotic developed and manufactured by Biomed-Lublin (IBSS BIOMED S.A.). It contains live lactic acid bacteria of the *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* 573 strain. The product is designed to restore and maintain the natural microbial balance of the vagina, which can be disrupted by factors such as antibiotic therapy, hormonal changes, stress, or poor hygiene. The mechanism of action involves the colonization of the vaginal epithelium by the *Lactobacillus* strain, which subsequently produces lactic acid. This acidification of the vaginal environment (maintaining a pH of approximately 4.0 to 4.7) inhibits the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. It is administered locally as a vaginal capsule and is indicated for the treatment of vaginal discharge, inflammatory conditions of the reproductive organs, and for prophylactic use against dysbiosis.
