LACUDY is a non-hormonal vaginal gel formulation containing hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, and alginate. Developed by Gun Oh Chong, it is designed to treat vaginal dryness and improve the vaginal environment, particularly in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer survivors receiving anti-estrogen therapy. The gel works through a multi-component mechanism: hyaluronic acid provides intensive hydration to the vaginal mucosa, lactic acid restores and maintains the natural acidic pH of the vaginal environment, and alginate forms a protective film. This combination serves as a therapeutic alternative to hormonal treatments, which are often avoided in breast cancer patients due to potential risks associated with estrogen exposure. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for symptoms including vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and vaginal bleeding.
