Overview

LAD106 (formerly ISB 880) is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody being developed by Almirall, S.A. for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. Licensed from Ichnos Sciences in 2021, the antibody specifically targets the interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-1 (IL-13Rα1). By binding to IL-13Rα1, LAD106 prevents the formation of the functional IL-13 receptor complex (composed of IL-13Rα1 and IL-4Rα), thereby selectively blocking IL-13 signaling without interfering with IL-4 signaling. This selectivity is hypothesized to provide a potent anti-inflammatory effect in Type 2 mediated diseases like atopic dermatitis while potentially offering a distinct safety or efficacy profile compared to dual IL-4/IL-13 inhibitors or ligand-targeting antibodies. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess safety, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in comparison to lebrikizumab and placebo.
