LAD603 is a novel, high-affinity monoclonal antibody developed by Almirall, S.A., specifically designed to target and neutralize interleukin-13 (IL-13). IL-13 is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in the pathophysiology of Type 2 inflammatory diseases, particularly atopic dermatitis, by driving skin barrier dysfunction, itch, and inflammation. By binding to IL-13, LAD603 prevents its interaction with the IL-13 receptor complex, thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways. LAD603 is engineered for potentially improved pharmacokinetic properties, such as a longer half-life, which may allow for less frequent dosing compared to existing IL-13 inhibitors. As of early 2024, LAD603 is undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in healthy volunteers to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity, with the primary intended indication being the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
