LAIS 2-tree allergoid is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) product designed to treat allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and allergic bronchial asthma caused by tree pollen, specifically birch and alder. It consists of carbamylated monomeric allergoids, which are chemically modified allergens with reduced allergenicity but preserved immunogenicity. This modification involves substituting ε-amino groups of allergen lysine residues. The drug works by modulating the immune system, promoting immune tolerance through a decrease in Th2 cytokines (such as IL-4), an increase in anti-inflammatory cytokines (like IL-10 and TGF-β), and an expansion of regulatory T cells (Tregs). It also leads to an increase in allergen-specific IgG, particularly IgG4 blocking antibodies, and a reduction in allergen-specific IgE, thereby attenuating allergic reactions.
