LAIS Frühblüher

Lais Frühblüher sublingual drops is a sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT) product developed by Lofarma S.p.A. for the treatment of birch and tree pollen-induced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. The active ingredient is a carbamylated monomeric tree pollen allergoid, a biological extract chemically modified through carbamylation with potassium cyanate at alkaline pH. This modification significantly reduces the allergen's IgE-binding capacity, thereby lowering the risk of systemic allergic reactions, while preserving its immunogenicity to induce T-cell-mediated immune tolerance. The drug is formulated as sublingual drops and has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in Germany to assess its safety, tolerability, and clinical efficacy in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis induced by early-blooming tree pollens.
