Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lais Nasal is an intranasal allergen immunotherapy (AIT) developed by Lofarma for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and nasal allergies. It is based on carbamylated monomeric allergoids, which are allergens chemically modified with potassium cyanate to reduce their IgE-binding affinity while preserving their immunogenicity. This modification enhances the safety profile by decreasing the risk of local and systemic allergic reactions. Administered directly to the nasal mucosa, the vaccine induces mucosal tolerance and promotes an immune shift from a Th2-dominated allergic response to a Th1/Treg-mediated regulatory response, leading to long-term desensitization to specific environmental allergens such as pollen or dust mites.
