Overview
LAIS Ragweed is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) tablet developed by Lofarma S.p.A. for the treatment of ragweed pollen-induced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and seasonal asthma. The active ingredient is a monomeric allergoid derived from *Ambrosia artemisiifolia* (ragweed) pollen extract, which has been chemically modified through carbamylation. This modification reduces the allergenicity of the extract (IgE binding) while preserving its immunogenicity, allowing for safer and more effective desensitization. Administered sublingually, the drug acts as an immunomodulator to shift the immune response away from an allergic profile. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in Italy, demonstrating a reduction in the Total Combined Score (TCS) during the ragweed pollen season.
