Overview
Lakcid is a probiotic medicinal product developed by the Polish pharmaceutical company Synthaverse (formerly Biomed-Lublin). It contains lyophilized live bacteria of the strain *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* (specifically strains Pen, E/N, and Oxy). The product is designed to colonize the intestinal mucosa, thereby restoring and normalizing the composition of the gastrointestinal microflora. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of intestinal dysbiosis, particularly following antibiotic therapy that may sterilize or disrupt the natural gut microbiota. Produced since 1959, Lakcid is registered as a medicinal product (OTC drug) in Poland and is marketed internationally in various formulations, including Lakcid Forte, which contains a higher concentration of probiotic bacteria.
