Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lakripos (also known as Lakripos Gel) is a sterile ophthalmic lubricating eye gel developed and manufactured by Ursapharm. It is regulated as a medical device rather than a pharmacologically active drug, containing carbomer 980 (2 mg/g) as its active lubricating polymer, alongside cetrimide, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, sodium edetate, and water. Lakripos Gel acts physically to lubricate the ocular surface and stabilize the tear film, providing long-lasting relief from dry, irritated, or burning eyes. In addition to its use for dry eye syndrome, Lakripos Gel has been evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial in Israel, sponsored by investigator Dr. Tarek Ghaoni, to determine whether a single application can reduce the duration and intensity of post-procedural ocular pain following standard povidone-iodine antisepsis and intravitreal injection.
