Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LAM181 is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Laminar Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of neuropathic pain. The drug is based on the company's proprietary Membrane Lipid Therapy (MLT) platform, also referred to as Melitherapy. Unlike conventional analgesics that typically target specific protein receptors or ion channels, LAM181 is designed to modulate the composition and physical properties of the cell membrane lipid bilayer. By altering the membrane's structure, LAM181 indirectly regulates the activity of membrane-bound signaling proteins, such as G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and ion channels, which are involved in the transmission and processing of pain signals. LAM181 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
