Overview
Lamelleye is a topical ophthalmic product developed for the treatment of moderate to severe dry eye disease (DED). It utilizes Lamellasome technology, which mimics the actions of serous lamellar bodies—structures that regulate interfaces between tissues and external environments. The formulation contains multilamellar lipid vesicles designed to restore and stabilize the tear film, providing unique lubricating and muco-restorative properties. This biophysical mechanism aims to address underlying causes of dry eye by improving mucosal surface hydration and reducing tear evaporation. Lamelleye received CE Mark clearance in the European Union in 2015, supporting its commercialization as a medical device for DED[6][8].
