Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lamivudine + dolutegravir sodium + abacavir is an oral fixed-dose combination antiretroviral therapy for **HIV-1 infection** developed by ViiV Healthcare. It combines **dolutegravir sodium**, an HIV integrase strand transfer inhibitor that blocks viral DNA integration into the host genome, with **abacavir** and **lamivudine**, two nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitors that inhibit HIV reverse transcriptase and terminate viral DNA synthesis. Marketed as **Triumeq** and the pediatric dispersible formulation **Triumeq PD**, it is used as a once-daily combination regimen in adults and pediatric patients, but it is not recommended as a complete regimen when integrase inhibitor resistance is suspected because the fixed dolutegravir dose may be insufficient in that setting.
