Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of **lanabecestat**, a β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) inhibitor, and **dabigatran etexilate**, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) that acts as a prodrug of dabigatran, a selective thrombin inhibitor. Lanabecestat was developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, targeting the reduction of β-amyloid production. Dabigatran etexilate is used for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic diseases. Co-administration in healthy subjects showed negligible pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interaction, with lanabecestat having no clinically meaningful impact on dabigatran exposure or P-glycoprotein (P-gp) activity at the intestinal wall[1][6].
