Overview

Landogrozumab (LY2495655) is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Eli Lilly that targets and neutralizes myostatin (growth differentiation factor 8). Myostatin is a negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass; by inhibiting it, landogrozumab was intended to increase muscle mass and strength. It was investigated for various conditions involving muscle wasting (cachexia) and weakness, including advanced pancreatic cancer, sarcopenia in older adults, and recovery after hip arthroplasty. However, clinical trials in pancreatic cancer were terminated due to a lack of efficacy and safety concerns, including an imbalance in death rates in the treatment arm. Development for other indications has largely ceased following these results.
