lanhuayao is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulated as water pills. It is developed and manufactured by Dalian Merro Traditional Chinese Medicine Factory and other regional manufacturers. The formulation consists of ten traditional ingredients, including Borax (硼砂), Bornelum Syntheticum (冰片), Indigo Naturalis (青黛), Natrii Sulfas Exsiccatus (玄明粉), Talcum (滑石粉), Succinum (琥珀), Alumen Dehydratum (枯矾), Gypsum Fibrosum (石膏), Catechu (儿茶), and Picrorhizae Rhizoma (胡黄连). lanhuayao is approved in China for clearing heat, detoxicating, and relieving malnutrition (消疳). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic tonsillitis, gingival swelling and pain, sore throat, and infantile malnutrition (小儿疳症).
