Overview
Lansoprazole + calcium carbonate is an oral fixed-dose combination drug under development for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and reflux esophagitis. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing stomach acidity[1][4][8]. Calcium carbonate acts as an antacid, neutralizing existing stomach acid and providing rapid symptomatic relief. The combination aims to provide both immediate and sustained control of gastric acidity. This product is being developed by Addpharma, a pharmaceutical company based in South Korea[5].
