Overview
LS-KEG (SFR) is a combination therapy being developed by Jiangsu Aosaikang Pharmaceutical for the first-line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It consists of the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) lansoprazole and the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) gefitinib. The rationale behind this combination is that lansoprazole, by inhibiting V-ATPase and modulating the acidic tumor microenvironment, may enhance the uptake and efficacy of gefitinib, potentially overcoming or delaying resistance. The "SFR" designation indicates a sustained-release formulation, designed to optimize the pharmacokinetic profile of the combination. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China.
