Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a **combination drug** containing two active pharmaceutical ingredients: **lansoprazole**, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and **naproxen**, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Lansoprazole decreases gastric acid production by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase in gastric parietal cells, protecting the gastric mucosa from NSAID-induced ulcers. Naproxen acts by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins and thereby decreasing inflammation, pain, and fever. This fixed-dose combination is primarily indicated to treat **osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis** in patients at risk of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers, combining anti-inflammatory efficacy with gastroprotection[1][2][3][4][6][7].
