Overview

Lantigen B is an oral bacterial lysate developed by Bruschettini Srl, primarily used for the prophylaxis of recurrent upper and lower respiratory tract bacterial infections. It is a chemical bacterial lysate (BL) composed of a suspension of antigens derived from six common respiratory pathogens: *Staphylococcus aureus*, *Streptococcus pyogenes*, *Streptococcus pneumoniae*, *Haemophilus influenzae*, *Moraxella catarrhalis*, and *Klebsiella pneumoniae*. Administered as oral drops (typically sublingually), the drug acts as an immunostimulant that modulates both innate and adaptive immune responses at the mucosal level. Research has also indicated its ability to downregulate the expression of ACE2 on oropharyngeal epithelial cells, potentially offering protective effects against viral entry. It has been studied extensively in Phase 4 trials, particularly in patients with comorbid allergic conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis.
