Overview

Lapathoside A is a phenylpropanoid ester isolated from the roots of buckwheat (*Fagopyrum esculentum*). It has been investigated for its potential anticancer properties, particularly against human pancreatic cancer cell lines such as PANC-1 and SNU-213. Research indicates that lapathoside A significantly reduces cell viability and induces apoptosis in these cell lines by modulating the expression levels of apoptotic proteins. The compound was identified through solvent partitioning and liquid chromatography of buckwheat root extracts, and its structure was confirmed using mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance analysis. It is currently in the preclinical research stage for the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
