Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCD-225 (larnefpendekin alfa) is an interleukin-15 (IL-15) receptor superagonist developed by Biocad. It is a heterodimeric fusion protein consisting of human IL-15 fused to an IgG1 Fc domain and the extracellular sushi domain of the IL-15 receptor subunit alpha (IL-15Rα). By mimicking the trans-presentation of IL-15 by IL-15Rα, BCD-225 acts as a potent agonist of the IL-15 receptor complex, stimulating the activation and proliferation of CD8+ T cells and natural killer (NK) cells to enhance anti-tumor immunity. BCD-225 is being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) in combination with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, and has demonstrated preclinical efficacy in syngeneic models of colorectal cancer, melanoma, and bladder cancer both as a monotherapy and in combination with anti-PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors.
