Laromestrocel (Lomecel-B) is an investigational allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by Longeveron Inc. The product consists of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the bone marrow of young, healthy adult donors. As a regenerative medicine therapy, laromestrocel is designed to exert multi-modal therapeutic effects, including pro-vascular, pro-regenerative, and anti-inflammatory actions. It is primarily being evaluated for aging-related frailty, where it aims to improve physical functioning and reduce systemic inflammation. Clinical data from Phase 2 trials in older adults have demonstrated dose-dependent improvements in physical performance measures, such as the six-minute walk test, and modulation of biomarkers like soluble TIE-2. Beyond aging frailty, the therapy is also under investigation for Alzheimer's disease and rare pediatric cardiac conditions, including hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).
