Overview

Larotaxel + trastuzumab is an investigational combination therapy consisting of larotaxel, a novel taxane-class small molecule chemotherapeutic agent, and trastuzumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 (HER2). Larotaxel acts as a tubulin inhibitor, disrupting microtubule dynamics and inhibiting cell division. Trastuzumab binds to HER2 receptors on tumor cells, blocking downstream signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation and survival. This combination has been studied primarily for the treatment of HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. The rationale for combining these agents is based on their complementary mechanisms—larotaxel’s cytotoxic activity and trastuzumab’s targeted inhibition of HER2-driven growth—potentially resulting in enhanced antitumor efficacy[1][3][4].
