Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**LAS40468** was an Almirall investigational inhaled fixed-dose combination of the long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist salmeterol and the inhaled corticosteroid fluticasone propionate, administered using the Genuair dry-powder inhaler. It was evaluated in a Phase 1 crossover study in adults with stable asthma against salmeterol/fluticasone propionate delivered by the Seretide Accuhaler. Salmeterol produces sustained bronchodilation through beta2-adrenergic receptor agonism, while fluticasone propionate activates the glucocorticoid receptor to suppress airway inflammation.
