Overview
LAS41004 IMP6 is an investigational topical ointment formulation developed by Almirall for the treatment of mild to moderate plaque psoriasis. It is a fixed-dose combination of bexarotene, a selective retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist, and betamethasone dipropionate, a potent corticosteroid. The combination is designed to provide synergistic effects by targeting both the inflammatory pathways (via the corticosteroid) and the cellular differentiation/proliferation pathways (via the retinoid) involved in psoriasis. The 'IMP6' designation refers to a specific formulation variant tested in Phase 2 clinical trials, including the Psoriasis Plaque Test (PPT), to evaluate its anti-psoriatic efficacy and safety profile, particularly regarding skin atrophy.
