**Lascufloxacin** is a novel 8-methoxy fluoroquinolone antibiotic approved in Japan in 2019 for treating community-acquired pneumonia, otorhinolaryngological infections, and respiratory tract infections. Developed by Kyorin Pharmaceutical, it exhibits potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria like *Streptococcus pneumoniae* and *Streptococcus anginosus*, Gram-negative pathogens including *Haemophilus influenzae* and *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, anaerobes, and atypicals such as *Mycoplasma pneumoniae* and *Legionella*. It demonstrates excellent lung tissue penetration and is effective against fluoroquinolone-resistant strains due to its balanced dual inhibition of bacterial enzymes.[1][2][3][5][6]
