Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LASSBio-2020 is a small molecule Rho-kinase (ROCK) inhibitor developed by the Laboratório de Avaliação e Síntese de Substâncias Bioativas (LASSBio) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. It is being investigated for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and associated right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. In preclinical models, LASSBio-2020 has demonstrated the ability to reduce pulmonary vascular remodeling, decrease pulmonary vascular resistance, and alleviate RV hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction. By inhibiting ROCK, which plays a critical role in smooth muscle proliferation and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, the compound aims to address the underlying structural and functional changes in PH.
