Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TC-002 is a novel **latanoprost ophthalmic solution 0.005%** developed by TearClear, designed to deliver preservative-free latanoprost from a conventional multi-dose bottle for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), including glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Its platform keeps the commonly used preservative benzalkonium chloride (BAK) in the bottle to maintain sterility and stability, but removes it from the drops when dispensed, delivering *pristine, preservative-free* medication to the eye. This may reduce the prevalence and severity of ocular surface disease (OSD) associated with preserved glaucoma medications. TC-002 met primary and all secondary endpoints in a Phase 3 pivotal trial (CLEAR Study), showing efficacy and tolerability comparable to standard preserved latanoprost but with no exposure of the ocular surface to preservative[1][2][5][6][7][9].
