Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Latex sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT-Latex) is an allergen immunotherapy developed by ALK-Abelló and evaluated by the Department of Allergology at Hospital Santiago Apostol for the treatment of natural rubber latex (NRL) allergy. The active ingredient is a natural rubber latex allergenic extract derived from *Hevea brasiliensis*, formulated as a sublingual solution. The therapy is designed to modulate the IgE-mediated immune response to major latex allergens (such as Hev b 5 and Hev b 6), inducing immunological tolerance by shifting the Th2-skewed allergic response, increasing allergen-specific IgG4 and IgA levels, and reducing basophil activation.
