**Latiglutenase** is an investigational, orally administered fixed-dose combination of two gluten-specific recombinant proteases developed as an adjunct to a gluten-free diet for **celiac disease**. The product combines ALV001, a modified recombinant barley cysteine endoprotease B isoform 2, with ALV002, a modified recombinant prolyl endopeptidase from *Sphingomonas capsulata*. The complementary enzymes digest gluten proteins into smaller, less immunogenic fragments in the gastrointestinal lumen, aiming to reduce gluten-triggered mucosal injury and symptoms after inadvertent gluten exposure. It has completed Phase 2 studies, including the CeliacShield gluten-challenge study, and is being prepared for Phase 3 development by ZymagenX.
