LATS2 small interfering RNA (siRNA) is a double-stranded RNA molecule designed to specifically silence the expression of the Large Tumor Suppressor Kinase 2 (LATS2) gene through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway. LATS2 is a core component of the Hippo signaling pathway, which plays a critical role in regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and organ size. In oncology research, LATS2 is often identified as a tumor suppressor that is downregulated in various cancers, including colorectal cancer, often through the action of microRNAs such as miR-135b. By utilizing LATS2 siRNA in laboratory settings, researchers can mimic the loss of LATS2 function to investigate its contribution to chemoresistance and anti-apoptotic phenotypes. Experimental evidence in colorectal cancer models suggests that the miR-135b/LATS2 axis is a significant regulator of doxorubicin-induced apoptosis, making LATS2 a key target for understanding cancer progression and potential therapeutic intervention.
