LAU_HG-02

LAU_HG-02 is an investigational mucoadhesive buccal tablet formulation of acyclovir being developed by Vectans Pharma for the treatment of herpes genitalis. The product utilizes the proprietary Lauriad delivery technology, which consists of a small tablet that adheres to the upper gingiva (gum) and provides a sustained release of the active ingredient directly into the systemic circulation through the oral mucosa. This delivery method is designed to bypass first-pass hepatic metabolism, potentially offering higher bioavailability and a more convenient dosing regimen compared to standard oral antiviral therapies. LAU_HG-02 is currently in Phase 3 clinical development, building on the established efficacy of the Lauriad technology used in Sitavig, an approved acyclovir buccal tablet for herpes labialis.
