Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LAU_OP-11 is an investigational buccal tablet formulation being developed by Vectans Pharma for the management of chronic pain in cancer patients. The drug utilizes the proprietary Lauriad muco-adhesive technology, which consists of a small tablet that adheres to the gum or cheek, allowing for the controlled and sustained release of the active ingredient directly into the systemic circulation via the oral mucosa. This delivery method is intended to optimize the pharmacokinetic profile of the analgesic agent—likely an opioid—by providing rapid absorption and avoiding first-pass metabolism. As of late 2021, LAU_OP-11 is in Phase 1 clinical development.
