LAUR-201 is a preclinical **V-Smart nanoparticle** nanomedicine developed by **Lauren Sciences** for **Neuro-HIV**, intended to deliver the antiretroviral payload **tenofovir** across the blood-brain barrier and into the central nervous system. The therapeutic concept is to overcome the poor CNS penetration of systemically administered tenofovir by packaging it in Lauren Sciences' V-Smart delivery platform, enabling exposure of HIV reservoirs in the brain to therapeutically relevant drug levels. Once delivered, the active antiviral mechanism is expected to derive from tenofovir inhibition of **HIV reverse transcriptase**, with the goal of reducing persistent CNS viral reservoirs that contribute to neurological impairment in HIV infection.
